From historic garden to modern experience centre
For many years, one of the attractions of green estate Hof van Coolhem was the asparagus garden with its canopy, where volunteers from the Friends of Hof van Coolhem grew asparagus and gave tours on the cultivation and history of this special vegetable.
That old canopy has now been transformed into a modern experience centre called the ‘Asparagus Point’
Collaboration with local partners for a unique experience
The municipality of Puurs-Sint-Amands has the support of many professional partners in this project. Besides the Friends of Court van Coolhem also puts eatery Court of Coolhem, Nektari, restaurant Eyckerhof, asparagus farm Amelinckx, the working group Erfgoed Puurs-Sint-Amands, Greta Rochtus, Elke Dewitte, Goossens Malderen and PLEASE FELT the shoulders of this project. Each from their own expertise, they shared their knowledge to make a gem of the Asparagus Point.
Tourism Flanders
The Asperge Point was realised thanks to the relance grant call from Tourism Flanders in function of the culinary experience.
Flemish food and drink culture is deeply rooted in our history and characterised by innovation, tradition and craftsmanship. In Flanders, we have a wide range of local products, typical dishes, drinking and eating establishments at all levels and specific eating and drinking habits.
For 1 in 5 Europeans, good food and drink is one of the most important factors when choosing their travel destination.
Culinary experiences are a great way for visitors to get to know Flanders better.
At Tourism Flanders, they strive for a sustainable future for our rich Flemish food and drink culture. They support projects that strengthen Flanders as a top culinary destination. In this way, they develop the sector and enrich the tourist offer. They also work to build a strong reputation and inspire international gourmets to discover Flanders.
